More Info about Our Club and Our Projects
Our Club is interested in a variety of projects to help our local community. especially early education and literacy. Below is a description of some of our projects. Overall, our club tries to say yes when we see a need and we are always willing to listen to needs from the community.
PARRISH UNDER THE STARS
On February 2nd, 2019 our club held the first annual Parrish Under the Stars event. This gala style fundraiser for adults begins at the Florida Railroad Museum in Parrish with Champagne and includes a fabulous train ride to the event and also includes live dance music, local wine and Craft beer tastings (with takeaway goods available), delicious and delightful heavy hors d’oeuvres, amazing desserts, a Diamond Jewelry raffle, and much more.
The second annual event was held on Saturday, February 1st, 2020. We are excited to continue this event in 2021 and beyond.
Our club collected donations of new or slightly used books during the Healthy Kids Running Series Event. These books will be distributed to children in the Parrish and Ellenton communities.
We are currently fundraising to build ramps to improve the mobility of senior citizens in our community. Our first ramp recipients were Bud and Marty Ragan. Bud passed away in February 2020 and was a strong Rotarian and member of our community as a past District Governor. He is missed greatly and we continue this project in Bud and Marty's honor.
ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARDS
The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program is a weekend leadership camp opportunity for students in 9th and 10th grade. Our club was proud to support this program in 2019 and plans to sponsor a student in 2020.
TEE OFF FOR TOTS
In September 2018, our club held a golf tournament to support youth in Manatee County.
